What does this cost me?
Nothing. We're paid a fixed referral fee by the installer if you go ahead, the same fee whichever one you choose. You're never invoiced by us, and there's no obligation to proceed with any quote.
Why not just get quotes directly from installers?
You can, and plenty of people do. Two things go wrong. First, every installer quotes a different size, brand mix and layout, so the prices don't compare. Second, most quote the layout that's quickest to install rather than the one that suits your usage. We fix both: one design, briefed identically to each installer, with placement worked out first.
Do you install the panels yourselves?
No. We:
- make sure the system design is optimised for you, and
- ensure the installer actually installs according to that design.
The physical install is done by the SAA-accredited installer you choose, and your contract, along with all the warranties, sits with them.
How much will I actually save?
It depends on your consumption pattern, roof orientation and shading. A typical Perth household with a 6.6 kW system offsetting a good share of its daytime usage generally sees payback in three to six years, which works out to an annual return of roughly 6–11%. Try the estimator above for a ballpark. Your quotes will carry an estimate based on your own numbers.
How do the rebates work, and are they already in the price?
Yes. The federal STC rebate is claimed by the installer and shown as a discount on the invoice, so the price you see is what you pay. The same applies to the federal battery discount. The WA Residential Battery Scheme rebate for Synergy customers is also applied at the point of sale by an eligible installer. Your quotes will itemise each one.
What is DEBS, and why does everyone say the feed-in tariff is low?
DEBS is Synergy's Distributed Energy Buyback Scheme, the rate you're paid for power you export. As at 1 July 2026 it pays about 10c/kWh between 3pm and 9pm and about 2c/kWh the rest of the day, capped at the first 50 kWh exported daily. Grid power costs you around 32c/kWh. That gap is why using your own solar matters far more than exporting it, and why panel placement is the first thing we look at.
Does it matter where on the roof the panels go?
Absolutely. Placement is one of the most overlooked parts of an install, yet it can move lifetime savings by 30% or more. We review orientation, layout and shading on every quote, and size for self-consumption rather than headline peak output.
I have a pool. Does that change anything?
We love pools. A pool pump is one of the most solar-friendly loads in a Perth home: it runs during daylight, every day, and hardest in summer. If you run one, the case for solar is usually very strong.
What about a battery?
Tick it on the form and we'll have quotes priced both with and without. With the 2026 federal and WA rebates a battery is closer to stacking up than it used to be, but payback is still longer than panels alone, so it's worth deciding on your real numbers rather than a brochure.
Do you handle the Western Power and Synergy paperwork?
Your installer does. Every installer we brief lodges the Western Power connection application and the Synergy DEBS paperwork as part of the job, and we check it's done before you're asked to pay the balance.
How long does it take?
Most quotes come back within two business days. Complex roofs, three-phase supply or battery retrofits can take a little longer. Installation is usually two to six weeks after you accept, depending on the installer's book and Western Power approval.
